ATOLLO is an architecture practice founded by three architects with diverse backgrounds and international experience. Rooted in a Mediterranean culture, the studio approaches each project as a process of research. Each project is developed through a precise methodology — where design emerges inductively, as a response to context, use, and interpretation. The practice operates through a collective approach, where difference becomes a tool for exploration, dialogue, and design.

Mariano Cuofano is an architect-researcher committed to ethnographic research and interdisciplinarity. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University Federico II of Naples, a Master of Research from the Royal College of Art in London, and a Post-master in architecture and urban design from The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies at TU Delft.

He has also pursued specialized courses at TU Delft and the Architectural Association (AA), focusing on town planning and public space analysis. As an architectural designer, he has collaborated with international firms such as RCR, Steven Holl Architects, and Foster + Partners.

From 2024, he collaborates as a mentor for the New European Bauhaus and currently holds the position of Vice President at NIB, an independent Mediterranean school of architecture.

In 2022, as managing editor of Plectica Editrice, Mariano launched the bilingual book series "Stanze," presenting the first volume, Domestic City by Ugo La Pietra, at the AA and in a joint event between the Italian Institute of Culture in Boston and Harvard GSD.

His work has been exhibited at the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale and, as a Berlage fellow, at the HET Nieuwe Instituut and Guggenheim Bilbao. His reflections and research have also been featured in leading architecture journals such as Volume and Arhitext.

Piero Gorga is an architect and lighting designer who brings strong expertise in enhancing and transforming architectural spaces through the expressive power of light.

His professional background was shaped in Berlin through collaborations with leading studios such as Lichtvision and The Flaming Beacon, including experience as project leader on complex international projects in the hospitality, museum, and residential sectors.

Within ATOLLO, this specialized knowledge in lighting design represents a key added value, enabling light to be fully integrated from concept to completion rather than treated as an external layer. This in-house approach allows for a cohesive and refined architectural outcome, where light becomes an integral part of the spatial experience.

Each project is approached with the aim of maximizing the spatial, aesthetic, and emotional potential of architecture.

Fabrizio Scattaretico is an architect based in Italy. He graduated from Sapienza University of Rome, where his research focused on the "ruins of contemporaneity" — investigating strategies to reframe and revalue landscapes marked by early industrialization, such as quarries and industrial sites.

His work spans architecture, interiors, and temporary installations, engaging with projects across different scales and contexts. He has contributed to national and international competitions and has been involved in all phases of the design process, from concept development to construction.

He has collaborated on exhibition and art-installation design with Tresoldi Studio and LGSM__A, exploring architecture as a temporary and spatial condition.

Alongside his professional practice, he has developed experience in project management, construction processes, and administrative procedures. His approach is grounded in a research-oriented and methodological process, with particular attention to context, materiality, and spatial quality.
